The 98th Birthday Celebration of Chideock W.I. on Tuesday 2nd May 2017
On May 2nd the 98th year of W.I. in Chideock was celebrated in style. The table was laden with delicious buffet food prepared by the committee and entertainment provided by “The Jurassic Drifters.” As they sipped glasses of Pimms members and guests sang along with the band to well loved and well known tunes. Whilst being helped along with the choruses in print we were surprised by how much we remembered of the lyrics of those old favourites. It certainly got us in the mood and some even dared to dance to the familiar music. It was a pleasure on this occasion to be joined by guests from neighboring branches of W.I. and also some local ladies from our community. The Birthday cake had been made and beautifully decorated by committee member Bev. Taylor and was cut by our newest member Lee Ramsden. Thankfully the Jurassic Drifters joined us for tea as we would never have demolished all those goodies without help. Altogether Chideock W.I. spent an enjoyable afternoon. It is amazing to realize that the W.I. has been going strong in our beautiful village and offering so much to the life of the community during the last 98 years. Only two years to go before the Centenary. I wonder how we will celebrate that?
