Where were you on July 5th 1989?  If you were in Chideock Village Hall that evening, you were present at the inaugural meeting of The Chideock Society. 156 people joined and a committee was formed. Twenty five years on the Society is still going strong and busy preparing to celebrate the 25th anniversary with a weekend exhibition in the Village Hall on Saturday and Sunday July 5th-6th, 2014.

It will be open from 11 am to 4 pm on the Saturday and 11 am to 2:30 pm on Sunday
followed by a second chance to see the 1940s film with Professor Brunsden’s commentary
at 3:00 pm.

The exhibition will include films taken at events held during the years, featuring founder members, plus photos of some memorable outings made over the years.  The Society has helped unearth and record important historical and social history of the Parish and has donated to projects conserving several heritage features. The Society has arranged to  deposit copies of all their  archive material in the Dorset Record Office after the exhibition is over, to be available to all.
