Clothier, Reginald William

Remembered with Honour at the Bulls Road Cemetery, Flers, France (Grave ref: 11.A.3)  Private Reginald, William Clothier, Service No: 24158, 6th Battalion, Dorsetshire Regiment.  Date of Death: 27th August, 1918. Age 20 years. Son of Tom and Alice M.M. Clothier, of Ruins Lane, Chideock, Dorset.

Reginald William Clothier was born in 1899 in Loder, Dorset. He was the son of Tom Clothier (b:1853) born in Cerne Abbas, Dorset  His mother was Alice Clothier born in 1872 in Netherbury, Dorset.  In the 1901 Census and the 1911 Census his father is listed as an ‘agriculural worker’ and the resided at Great Toller, Maiden Newton, Dorset.

Reginald was ‘killed in action’ at the Somme on 27th August 1918 aged 20 years.  He was a Gunner in the 6th Battalion of the Dorsetshire Regiment.  His parents address had been given as Ruins Lane, Chideock, Dorset.

Reginald is commemorated at The Bulls Road Cemetery in Flers and also on The Chideock War Memorial.
