CHIDEOCK REMEMBERS

war memorial
Gathering for the Act of Remembrance

Many gathered at the Chideock War Memorial to take part in the Act of Remembrance and the placing of the poppy wreath. The names of those lives lost in the First and Second World Wars were read out and Canon John McDougal led the service of The Act of Remembrance.  This was followed by the Remembrance Service in St.Giles Church.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,

We will remember them.

From Laurence Binyon’s poem For the Fallen, written in September 1914
