Chideock Fete – Sunday 31st July 2011

After a sprinkling of rain in the first half hour the weather held for The Chideock Fete and a wonderful time was had by all. The Chideock Society hosted Edwardian Games and great fun was had with adults and children participating in Egg & Spoon races, sack races, dress the baby and many others. It was great to see grown men concentrating so hard on being the winner of the Egg & Spoon Race!

All the Groups had their own stalls giving a percentage of their takings to the Fete Committee and many were supporting the Bells Project. The ‘Find the Key’ stall proved to be very popular producing probably the largest contribution to the Bells appeal. The atmosphere was lovely – a truly village affair.

Christmas came early with the Chideock Players albeit it was noted that Father Christmas had ‘flip-flops’ on! Tombola, Hoopla, Raffle, Skittles, Bouncy Castle, Books, Fossils – everything in place to make a traditional Fete and we were all fortified by delicious tea and cakes from the Chideock Womens Institute. To close a very talented Brass Band took part in Songs of Praise.
