- FUNDRAISING HELP FOR BERTIE
Bertie is such a wonderful, happy chocolate labrador and can often be seen walking around Chideock and Seatown with his owner, Carolyn, but he’s recently been diagnosed with degenerative knee ligaments and requires both knee replacements. Read more here to see how you may be able to help.
Lyn Crisp is dedicating her sales of second hand fictional books this year to Bertie’s cause so if you are walking by her house, do stop and browse … and you can also donate your pre-read books too.
You may not know but the Chideock and Seatown Community Website gives donations to local causes such as this. Some of the things we have funded are a noticeboard in Chideock, made donations to Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and Wheelchair Access for Lucy at Hive Beach. We also made contributions towards the Chideock defibrillator, the Village Hall, the Chideock News and Friends of St Giles.
If you would like to nominate a good local cause, we’d love to hear about it and can even raise awareness on this website to help you raise further money.
- KEEP MICROPLASTIC FIBRES OUT OF OUR OCEANS
In 2017 one of the WI Resolutions was to:
Keep Microplastic Fibres out of our Oceans
Members felt strongly about the subject but were not clear about the various types of plastic that are going into our seas. One of our members, Lee Ramsden, has put together this summary which might be of interest to others in the village. Please feel free to use it.
With the problems of plastic in mind Chideock WI members will be taking part in a Beach Clean at Seatown on Thursday 26 April from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm.
Anyone who would like to join us should telephone Mary Rogers on 01297 489452.

SWH/BBIS is the Managing Agent Contractor for Connect A30/A35 Limited, the concessionaire responsible for the operation and maintenance of the A30 and A35 between Exeter and Bere Regis, on behalf of Highways England.
The works. As part of the maintenance strategy for the A30/A35, it will be necessary to carry out some drainage repairs in and around Chideock Village in advance of our surfacing works on the A35 Chideock, Dorset. The extent of the drainage works will be between Chideock Hill and London Inn. We would like to apologise in advance for any disruption these essential works may cause.
Start: 9 April 2018 9.30 am
End: 27 April 2018 11.30 am
The drainage repairs will be carried using traffic signals which will remain in place 24hrs a day. The drainage works are planned to be carried out during the daytime but there may be a requirement for night works during which full carriageway closures will be necessary. All excavation/noisy works will be carried out at the start of shift and completed where possible by 11pm. There are no current plans for works on weekends or for traffic management to be in place on weekends.
Please note: some travel delays should be expected and we would suggest allowing extra time for your journey if an alternative or deferred travel arrangements are not possible.
These works are weather susceptible and may be subject to change due to circumstances beyond our control. We will endeavour to communicate any change in programme as soon as possible.
A dedicated phone line has been installed for customers who may wish to call and enquire about these works. If you have any queries please leave your name and number and if possible details of your query and we will contact you. The number is 01404 823871. Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of any further assistance.
